About

Our locations

We build in the same room.

Most companies our size went remote and stayed there. We went the other way, on purpose, and the offices on this page are what that decision looks like.

What an open floor is for

The work we do is translation. A client tells us what the business needs. Someone has to turn that into a data model, a permission structure, an interface that a person will actually use. Almost everything that goes wrong in this industry goes wrong in that gap.

That gap closes faster when an engineer can turn around and ask an analyst what a number means, and slower when the same question becomes a ticket.

Requirements get clearer

The distance between what a client asked for and what they meant is usually one conversation. In an open room that conversation happens the same morning.

Review is continuous

Someone glancing at a screen and saying that number looks wrong is worth more than a scheduled code review a week later.

People learn faster

The engineers who understand systems deeply learned it by sitting near people who already did. That is harder to replicate over video than anyone wants to admit.

AI has made this more important, not less. When a working prototype takes an afternoon, the constraint stops being how fast you can build and becomes whether you are building the right thing. That is a question you answer by talking to the person who asked.

Flexible about when, firm about where

We offer unlimited paid time off. We also expect people in the office.

Those two things are not in tension. We are not measuring hours, and we do not think presence is productivity. What we think is that the specific work SEAD does, engineers and business people arriving at a shared understanding of a client's problem, happens in a room.

So take the time you need. Be here when you are here.

We are aware this is not for everyone, and we would rather say it on the website than discover it in someone's second week. If you want fully remote work, we are not the right fit and there are good companies that are. If you have spent time on a team where the engineers and the business never quite understood each other, you may recognize what we are trying to avoid.

Fifteen minutes from Manhattan

Being an embedded partner means being somewhere you can be reached. Both offices sit on the west bank of the Hudson, a short hop from Manhattan and from each other.

Client work happens in Hoboken because that is what the room was built for. When a workshop needs to happen in person, it happens the same week, not the same quarter.

Ready to work with us?

We hire for the room as much as the résumé. If sitting near the problem sounds right to you, we would like to meet.
